Getting through the day, one cup at a time.

Well, That Didn’t Last Long

Hahaha, remember how I agreed to do a photo challenge?

Yeah, unfortunately that’s not going to happen.

With this winter funk going on right now, and the fast approaching Christmas season (Can you believe there’s only 7 more days?!?!) I just can’t seem to muster the energy to try and do these daily photos or crafts right now. Bummer, right?

To top it all off I start Semester 1 on January 1, 2013 so I have been receiving text books, student manuals, course outlines, letters from the school, etc. and it is so overwhelming that I don’t know how much of my time I will be able to allot to blogging anymore! I’m stressed and anxious, but I’m sure I’ll be fine. I just want to give you guys a heads up that you may hear from me even less often than you have been (up to December, that is) but that I will still be here and I have every intention of blogging whenever time and energy will allow me to.

I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I’ll see you back here for the Holiday Photo Challenge (click the picture to the right —>) so remember to take your photos of your hot beverage getting in on some of your family-holiday-fun-times. 😀

Lots of love,

In the mind…

I was watching Lord of the Rings last night (for the zillionth time) and I saw a little…flaw….

first meme

I had to find a way to make this happen. All I could think last night is: if Golem has been tracking them, how did he get into the Mines of Moria after the Watcher in the Water caused the entrance to collapse?

Nerd. 😀

My Package Arrived!

Because I get so excited about these things (and because sometimes I like to start sentences with “Because”) I would like to share these with you:

IMG_8864

These are: 2 notepads, 10 Christmas pens, and 140 address labels with our awesome caricatures on them!

These were super simple to make, almost similar to making a Wii Avatar or creating your own Sim, and once you have made each family member the website saves them so you can add them to whichever items you would like.

We’re going to hand out some pens as part of our Christmas gifts this year, and I am going to be writing ALL of my notes on this personalized notepad from now on. The address labels have the caricatures at the top, and then a line for your “Family Name” and then a second line for your “Full Address”. Since we don’t really have a “family name” (Ally has her father’s name, Kira and I share a name, and Phil has his own name) I split our address into two lines “123 Coffee Street” and “Power, Ontario C0F 4E3”

Take a look at how awesome our caricatures are:

I got to choose face shapes, skin colour, hair colour, hair style, freckles, facial hair, hair accessories, glasses, eye colour, eye shape, everything. I even got to customize the fur colour on their base husky!

Yeah, I’m in love with this.

With my order came some offers that I’d like to share with you:

50% off Holiday Cards: http://www.vistaprint.com/gift50  expires January 31, 2013

25% off everything on their site: http://www.vistaprint.ca/notepad25 (restrictions apply)

I am only sharing this out of my own personal excitement with this business. I’m not being compensated in any way, but if VistaPrint wants to compensate me then YES! I would like one of everything!

No pressure though.

Out Of My Head And Into The Blog

And then it won’t be in my head anymore, right?

I hope so.

I start school in January. I’m going to be receiving funding from the province, of which I will have to pay back a portion at the end of my schooling. It’s….tight. Now, I’ve always been used to living tight but this is really tight. Fiscally, that is.

I know that I have tons of things to be grateful for, and I am, I’m just worried. I’m worried that I’m going to have to magically come up with some money to buy the last 3 toddler gifts that I need to purchase. I’m worried that there isn’t money coming in January (I’m on my own until February) and although I have budgeted madly, I’m still worried that I will have forgotten something. Or that something unexpected will come up.

Do you know what I did today? I researched drug and dental coverage plans for my little family. For the two girls and I, everything – every single company – the monthly premium was over $100. As an alternative to that (since I live in Canada and severe medical emergencies are covered by the government) I have created a slush fund in my tight-belted budget that should cover the occasional prescriptions. I hope.

Since when did it become okay for me to start pitying myself again? To start feeling bad that I can’t afford to register the girls in any extra curricular programs this winter. Or maybe even summer. I know we’re going to be fine. That we’ll make it out on the other end all covered in sunshine and rainbows, and stronger for it. But I’m just worried at this point.

I’ll probably feel better in February but I just wanted to vent.

A Quick Post of Awesomeness

I just wanted to throw out there that I got a little flyer thing in a magazine yesterday and ordered notepads, address labels and pens with our family’s CARICATURES on them today. If you’re interested in doing the same then you can get 50% off just by going to http://www.vistaprints.ca/todaysfaces

Shipping cost me $7.99 flat rate for as many items as I wanted to buy. Remember that I’m located in Canada, but they didn’t seem too worried about which country it was when I searched shipping rates.

I just wanted to spread the love if you were looking for some cute personalized items for yourself or gifts!
