Getting through the day, one cup at a time.

Fresh Air

on April 24, 2012

There’s nothing I love more than going outside to spend time with my kids. Of course, this tends to happen more in warmer weather, and the weather had been warming up!

We’ve been walking to the store for groceries and the park for playing, but because our backyard isn’t fully fenced we have been avoiding staying on home ground. This changed when the girls got some chalk for Easter and I remembered that they had more chalk still packed in the basement. Twenty long minutes sifting through boxes later… and we were outside for some happy-fun-chalk-and-bubbles-time.

The planning for this went something like: is the weather nice enough; are both girls having a good-listening day; do I have time to throw them in the bath before dinner; can I make something for dinner that requires minimal effort???? (Four question marks, for four questions. Sometimes I’m so cool…)

Once all of these requirements had been sufficiently met we broke open our chalk sets and headed outside. Headed? Oh well.

Chalk

Most of the chalk was Crayola’s 3D Chalk, and I have to admit that I opened the package and threw the driveway paint in the garbage. No thank you, painting. Edie apparently agreed with my disapproval because she later chewed up the paint brush that came with the set.

Bubbles

The bubbles came in long tubes as a present from Gramma, but I have seen them sold for $1 at the local Dollarama and Walmart. They are awesome. Bubbles are awesome. The kids can’t really handle blowing the bubbles yet, but they sure love to chase them and pop them!

Mama Gets Artsy

This is me getting fancy with my camera. Sigh, I love pictures so much.

It’s Kira!

Ally, chasing bubbles. Plus our ghetto lattice…it’s on the “to-be-fixed” list for the summer.

Phil and I. Well, our shadows, but that’s as close as it gets with only two adults to operate the camera.

Bubble!

What an amazing time we had. Everyone was full of smiles, and the day was perfect. Sometimes it’s nice to head out, but every now and then it’s nice to keep it close to home too.

Aww, how sweet. I love all these pictures so much. I love springtime!

How old are your girls? Emilia is four. She blows bubbles now. It’s a big thing. Sidrah is 1.5 years. She can’t blow bubbles, and she wants to. There is some bubble envy going on at our house. But not chalk envy because we can all draw chalk outlines of Mom!

Do you always do your girls’ hair up cute like that, or was it because you knew you’d be taking pictures? Seriously, I’m lucky if my girls’ hair gets brushed! Very impressed. They are adorable, too. 🙂

    • Haha! Their hair looks messy to me in these pictures! Kira normally rocks a crooked top ponytail, and since Ally’s hair is curly I try and either ponytail it or put a smidge of mousse in and clip it out of her face. Thank you, you made my day!

  3. Oh they are such cuties…..then they grow up and become giants like my kids….sigh…

    • That’s why I’m taking LOTS of pictures. I want to be able to remember them when they get older. My memory is terrible, and it looks like it’s genetic, so I have to rely on the ol’ technology!

I LOVE OUTSIDE PLAY TIME!!! I can’t wait until it gets warm enough that we don’t need to wear mitts. It is so hard to build sand castles at the park with mitts on.

I LOVE THE PHOTOS. The kiddos look so cute, and I SUPER love the shadow picture and the bubble picture 🙂
